Organised by the Patrick Kavanagh Society.

9.00pm: Ciaran Carson, Pádraigin Ni Uallacháin and harpist Helen Davies on a
journey of words and music
 ‘From Amergin to Kavanagh’.

 

Saturday 28th November 2009.

9.30am: Conducted walking tour of Patrick Kavanagh Literary Trail in Carrickmacross with Larry McDermott.

11.00am:  ‘My days with Patrick Kavanagh’ Godfrey Graham.

12.15pm: ‘A Little Book of Hours’ John F. Deane

1.15pm: Lunch at Inniskeen Social Club

2.15pm:‘Patrick Kavanagh: The poet as friend’.

3.30pm: ‘The G.A.A culture and post Lisbon Treaty’.

7.00pm:  Commemorative Mass for Patrick and deceased Kavanagh Family.

Church of Mary Mother of Mercy.

9.00pm: "Kavanagh" by Tom O’Brien. A dramatisation based on the life of Patrick Kavanagh.
Directed by John Dunne.


 Sunday 29th November

10.00pm: Bus tour – visiting sites of local and historic interest with Art Agnew.

 1.00pm:  Lunch at Inniskeen Social Club

2.00pm: Annual Graveside commemoration

 2.15pm:
‘Memories of Katherine Kavanagh’

 3.15pm: Cherished Irish Songs from her hit TV series ‘Songbirds’

4.30pm: Launch of St. Daigh’s N.S. Poetry
Anthology ‘Garden of Golden Apples’.
Produced by the pupils under the
guidance of Noel Monahan (poet
and playwright), Kate Beagan (artist)
and school staff.
Supported by The Writers in School
Scheme, Poetry Ireland.

4.45pm: Annual Schools Poetry Award.
Primary Schools Poetry Award.
Monaghan V.E.C. Junior Poetry Awards.

Frank McNally:
Born in Carrickmacross, Frank McNally is a reporter and columnist with The Irish Times. A former National Media Awards winner for his Dail and tribunal sketches, he is now chief writer of the daily Irishman's Diary column. He lives in Dublin with his wife and three children.
