numerous examples of Rock Art possible dating
to the Bronze Age.
2. A number of Iron Age or Early Christian
raths
3. A round tower associated with an
early ecclesiastical foundation
4. A Norman motte and bailey with the
possible much ruined remains of a gatehouse and
bawn

Rock Art
Is
also recorded in the Monaghan Inventory. The entry is as follows:
Rock Art, at least seventy examples of cup and ring marks
visible on five areas of rock outcrop in the townland of Drumerril.
Public access is not available.

Iron Age or Early Christian Raths
Many
of the raths are listed in the archaeological inventory of Counties
Monaghan and Louth. These range from uni-vallate types to
the impressive multi-valate enclosures of which Shancoduff bi-vallate
rath with an associate southerrain is a good example.
